Before buying an oil painting reproduction

An oil reproduction is not a printed image: it is a new painting created by an artist, inspired by an existing artwork or by an image provided by the customer.

Are KUADROS artworks digital prints or hand-painted?

KUADROS artworks are hand-painted oil paintings on canvas created by professional artists. They are not digital prints, posters, or machine-generated copies. Each piece is made with real brushstrokes, layers of oil paint, texture, and artistic review.

What is an oil painting reproduction?

It is a handcrafted interpretation of a painting, created again in oil on canvas. The goal is to preserve the composition, colors, atmosphere, and visual presence of the artwork that inspires the commission, without turning it into a flat print.

What is the difference between an oil reproduction and a canvas print?

A canvas print reproduces an image with ink. An oil reproduction is painted by hand. That’s why an oil painting has relief, variations in brushwork, chromatic depth, and a tangible presence. It is a decorative piece that stays closer to the language of traditional painting.

Will the reproduction be exactly the same as the original artwork?

Because it is a hand-painted work, there may be natural variations in color, proportion, texture, brushwork, artistic interpretation, or photographic lighting. These differences are part of the handcrafted process and are not necessarily considered defects. Before shipping, the customer can review the preview and request reasonable adjustments if they feel the painting needs corrections.

Why buy a hand-painted oil painting instead of a print?

An oil painting offers real texture, visual presence, and a warmer feel than a print. It is a suitable choice for living rooms, dining rooms, offices, libraries, religious spaces, hotels, professional studios, and special gifts.

Are reproductions of famous paintings original works?

No. A reproduction is a new painting inspired by an existing work. It is not the original work by the historical artist and should not be presented as such. KUADROS offers hand-painted oil reproductions for décor, private collections, and custom commissions.

How the KUADROS process works

The process is designed so you can order your artwork with confidence: selection, artisanal production, review, approval, and shipping.

How do I place an order?
  1. Choose the painting, size, and available options on the product page.
  2. Complete your purchase securely on Shopify.
  3. KUADROS can begin the production process shortly after the order is confirmed.
  4. The assigned artist paints the work in oil on canvas.
  5. KUADROS sends you a high-resolution photograph of the finished painting for review.
  6. The painting is not shipped until the final preview has been approved.
Who paints the reproductions?

KUADROS works with professional artists specialized in painting reproductions and custom commissions. Each work is assigned according to the style, complexity, and characteristics of the requested painting.

When does production of my painting start?

KUADROS can begin the production process shortly after the order is confirmed. This process may include assigning the work to an artist, preparing materials, planning the composition, managing references, and starting the artistic work.

From the moment a painting has been assigned to an artist or has entered production, KUADROS already incurs costs in time, materials, coordination, and artistic work.

How long does it take for a painting to be ready?

The timeframe depends on size, complexity, level of detail, drying process, requested adjustments, and shipping destination. If you need the painting by a specific date, contact KUADROS before purchasing to confirm whether the deadline is feasible.

Does KUADROS work with quality control?

Yes. Each work is reviewed before the preview is sent to the customer. The review checks composition, color, proportion, texture, overall finish, and consistency with the reference image.

Can I share special instructions before the painting starts?

Yes. If you would like to indicate preferences for color, proportion, finish, composition, or specific details, it’s best to share them before the work begins. The clearer the initial instructions, the more precise the painting and review process will be.

Customization, sizes, and special works

KUADROS paintings are created by hand after the order is received and can be produced individually according to the selected artwork, chosen size, customer instructions, visual references provided, and adjustments requested during the review process.

Can I order a custom painting?

Yes. You can request a custom painting based on your own image, a photograph, or a specific artwork, as long as the commission is legally viable and you hold the necessary rights or permissions where required.

Are KUADROS paintings considered made-to-order products?

Yes. KUADROS paintings are not prefabricated products or standard inventory items. They are made-to-order works, produced individually after purchase and, in many cases, created according to the customer’s individual choice or decision.

Can I request a different size than the one shown on the product page?

In many cases, yes. KUADROS can assess special sizes based on the original artwork’s proportions, the resolution of the reference image, and the needs of the space where you plan to hang the painting.

How do I choose the right size for my wall?

For a main wall, sofa, headboard, or dining area, a generously sized piece usually works well, leaving some empty space around it. For hallways, desks, or reading corners, a more compact size may be better. If you’re unsure between two sizes, measure the available space and compare it with the artwork’s proportions before buying.

Can I change colors, details, or proportions?

You can request special instructions before the order begins. Some changes are possible, while others may affect the composition or fidelity of the work. For major modifications, contact KUADROS before purchasing.

What quality should the reference image have?

The better the image, the more information the artist will have to work on color, detail, and composition. For custom orders, send the sharpest image possible and, if you have several references, share them before confirming the commission.

Can I commission portraits, family paintings, or personal images?

Yes, custom commissions can include portraits, family images, pets, private landscapes, or other personal references. Feasibility will depend on the image quality, required level of detail, and the specific conditions of the order.

Preview, approval, and adjustments

The preview is one of the most important parts of the process: it lets you review the artwork before it is shipped to your address.

Will I receive a photograph of the painting before shipping?

Yes. Before shipping any painting, KUADROS sends the customer a high-resolution photograph of the finished work. This preview allows you to review the painting before it is shipped.

Is the painting shipped automatically once it’s finished?

No. KUADROS does not ship the painting until the final preview has been approved. Approving the preview means that the customer accepts the painting as shown in the photograph sent for final review.

Can I request adjustments if I’m not convinced by the preview?

Yes. If the preview does not meet your expectations, KUADROS can offer adjustments before shipping. These adjustments may include reasonable corrections related to color, details, proportions, finish, or artistic interpretation, always within the natural limits of a hand-painted work.

What kind of adjustments can I request?

Common adjustments may include changes in color, contrast, small details, tonal balance, visible corrections compared with the reference, finish, or reasonable proportions. Changes that completely transform the composition may require special evaluation.

Can KUADROS assign the work to another artist?

When necessary, KUADROS can consider assigning the work to another artist. Our goal is for the customer to receive a satisfactory painting before shipping, while respecting the handcrafted, manual, and personalized nature of the product.

What happens after I approve the preview?

Once the final preview is approved, we understand that the customer accepts the painting as shown in the approval photograph. After approval and shipping, cancellations, returns, or refunds for change of mind are not accepted for made-to-order, custom, or customer-specified paintings, unless applicable law provides otherwise.

International shipping and packaging

KUADROS sells internationally. Delivery times may vary depending on the destination country, painting size, order preparation, and transport conditions.

Does KUADROS ship internationally?

Yes. KUADROS ships internationally using reputable carriers, depending on availability, destination, and order conditions. Final options are shown during checkout or in order communications.

How is the painting shipped?

In general, paintings are shipped unframed, rolled, and protected in a secure tube. This helps reduce risks during international transport. If you need a special option, please ask before purchasing.

How much does shipping cost?

The final shipping cost is calculated during checkout based on weight, volume, and destination. Check the final amount at checkout before confirming your order.

Will I receive a tracking number?

When the order is dispatched, you will receive tracking information if the carrier and destination allow it. Check your email and the contact details you provided during purchase.

What happens if a painting arrives damaged during transport?

KUADROS carefully packs each painting for safe international shipping. If a painting arrives damaged, contact KUADROS as soon as possible and include clear photos of the damaged painting, the outer packaging, the inner packaging, the order number, and a description of the issue.

We recommend reporting the damage within 7 days of delivery so we can properly handle the case with the shipping company. This timeframe does not limit any mandatory legal rights the customer may have.

Import taxes, customs, and possible local fees

KUADROS aims to make international purchases as straightforward as possible. That’s why, under normal conditions, we prepay and cover the import taxes applicable to the paintings.

Do I have to pay import taxes on my painting?

Under normal conditions, no. KUADROS prepays and covers the import taxes corresponding to the paintings, so the customer does not have to pay those taxes upon delivery.

Can my local customs office charge any additional fees?

Although KUADROS covers import taxes on the paintings, some customs authorities, carriers, or local entities may apply administrative fees, handling charges, processing, storage, inspection, or other local costs that are not part of the import tax prepaid by KUADROS.

These extraordinary charges depend on local rules and practices and, when they occur, may be charged directly by customs, the carrier, or the relevant local entity.

Exactly what taxes does KUADROS cover?

KUADROS covers the import taxes applicable to the paintings shipped. This does not include any extraordinary local charges for processing, customs handling, storage, inspection, data correction, special procedures, or additional services charged by local authorities or carriers.

What should I do if I receive a notice from customs or the carrier?

If you receive a notice related to customs, taxes, or local charges, contact KUADROS before making any payment, whenever possible. Send us a copy of the notice, the tracking number, and your order number so we can review the case.

What happens if a painting is not claimed at customs?

Paintings that are not claimed, are abandoned at customs, or whose import is not completed due to lack of response, documentation, or cooperation from the customer may be subject to the exclusions indicated in KUADROS’ current policies. If you receive a notice from customs or the carrier, contact us as soon as possible.

KUADROS covers import taxes on the paintings. Only extraordinary local costs may arise, such as administrative fees, handling charges, or customs processing, when applied by local authorities or entities beyond KUADROS’ direct control.

Warranty, cancellations, returns, and refunds

This section summarizes the most common questions. Full conditions are always available on KUADROS’ official warranty, refund, and terms pages.

What warranty does KUADROS offer?

KUADROS offers a satisfaction warranty before shipping. This means that, before the painting is shipped, we will work with the customer to make reasonable adjustments when the work requires corrections.

If, after reasonable adjustments, KUADROS determines that it is not possible to complete the painting satisfactorily or in line with the order, we may offer an appropriate solution, which may include a new version, a change of artist, store credit, or a refund, depending on the case.

See the Refund policy before placing your order.

Can I cancel my order after purchasing?

You can request cancellation before the painting has been assigned to an artist or before the production process has started. If the order has not yet entered production, KUADROS can cancel the order and issue a full refund.

Once the painting has been assigned to an artist, prepared, started, painted, adjusted, or completed, the order is considered in production and cannot be automatically cancelled for change of mind, unless applicable law provides otherwise.

Can I cancel a painting after production has started?

Once the production process has started, the order cannot be automatically cancelled for change of mind, as the work is being created individually for the customer and KUADROS has already incurred production costs, artistic time, materials, and coordination.

However, before shipping, KUADROS will still offer the option to review the preview and request reasonable adjustments.

What if I don’t like the preview?

KUADROS will work with the customer to make reasonable adjustments before shipping. When necessary, we can also consider changing the artist or another suitable solution. The goal is to resolve corrections before the painting is shipped.

Can I return a painting after receiving it?

Once the customer approves the final preview and the painting is shipped, cancellations, returns, or refunds for change of mind are not accepted for made-to-order, custom, or customer-specified paintings, unless applicable law provides otherwise.

This does not affect the customer’s rights in case of damage during transport, defect, order error, or any legally applicable lack of conformity.

Do I have a right of withdrawal if I am in the European Union?

Consumers in the European Union may have the right to withdraw from an online purchase within the applicable legal period. However, European law provides exceptions, including products made to the consumer’s specifications or clearly personalized.

Due to the nature of KUADROS paintings, many works may be excluded from the right of withdrawal once they have been commissioned, assigned to an artist, produced, adjusted, approved, or shipped.

Is there an electronic withdrawal button for European Union customers?

Yes. KUADROS provides a clearly visible electronic withdrawal function in the store to facilitate the exercise of consumer rights in the European Union.

Automatic confirmation of a withdrawal request proves that KUADROS has received the request. It does not mean that the order is automatically refundable if the painting is excluded from the right of withdrawal because it is made-to-order, personalized, or produced according to the customer’s specifications.

What conditions must an accepted return meet?

When a return is accepted, the product must be in the same condition in which it was received, not used, altered, hung, damaged, or handled beyond what is necessary to inspect it, and must be returned in its original packaging or similarly secure packaging.

It must also include the order number or reference and be shipped following the instructions provided by KUADROS. KUADROS may refuse a return if the product is returned damaged, altered, incomplete, or in a condition that prevents proper inspection.

Who pays for return shipping?

When a return is accepted for change of mind or for a valid exercise of the right of withdrawal, the customer is responsible for the direct costs of return shipping, unless KUADROS expressly states otherwise or applicable law requires a different arrangement.

The customer must use a safe shipping method suitable for artworks, preferably with tracking. KUADROS is not responsible for products that are lost or damaged during return shipping arranged by the customer.

Does KUADROS charge a restocking fee?

KUADROS does not charge a fixed restocking fee on the valid legal exercise of the right of withdrawal by European Union consumers.

However, where permitted by law, KUADROS may deduct a reasonable amount from the refund if the product has suffered a loss of value caused by unnecessary, excessive, incorrect, or improper handling beyond what is needed to inspect the work.

How are refunds processed?

When a refund is due, it will be processed using the same payment method used for the original purchase, unless another permitted method is expressly agreed. In the case of an accepted return, KUADROS may wait to receive the returned product or valid proof of return before processing the refund.

Additional costs arising from special, express, or premium shipping methods beyond standard shipping will not be refunded, unless applicable law states otherwise.

What if I receive the wrong painting, a defective work, or an order error?

If you receive the wrong painting, an incorrect size, or a product that does not match the approved order, contact KUADROS with photos and your order number. KUADROS will review the case and, if appropriate, offer a solution at no additional cost.

This solution may include correction, replacement, a new painting, store credit, or a refund, as appropriate.

Where can I read the full conditions?

This page summarizes frequently asked questions but does not replace the official policies. Before purchasing, review the warranty, refund policy, privacy policy, and terms of use published by KUADROS.

Caring for an oil painting

An oil painting should be handled with care to preserve its color, texture, and stability over time.

How should I care for my oil painting?

Place the work in a dry, stable location away from direct humidity, excessive heat, or intense sunlight. To remove dust, use a dry, soft cloth or a delicate duster. Avoid chemicals, water, or household cleaners.

Can I frame the painting after receiving it?

Yes. Many paintings shipped rolled can be stretched onto a frame and framed locally. We recommend going to a professional framer to stretch the canvas correctly and choose a frame that suits the style of the work.

Can the painting change slightly over time?

Oil is a traditional material that can continue to stabilize over time. Proper conservation, moderate ventilation, and avoiding extreme conditions help preserve the work.

Where is it best to hang an oil painting?

Avoid placing the work above direct heat sources, in spaces with constant humidity, or under intense sunlight for many hours. A stable interior wall with controlled lighting and good ventilation is usually a better option.

Quick guide to choosing your oil reproduction

Choosing a painting is not only about personal taste. It’s also worth considering the space, light, size, proportions, and decorative style.

For living and dining rooms

Choose a piece with strong visual presence. Landscapes, classical scenes, flowers, portraits, or religious paintings can create an elegant focal point.

For offices and studios

An oil painting can add character and sophistication. Medium or large-format works usually work well in offices, reception areas, and libraries.

For special gifts

Famous reproductions and custom paintings are memorable options for anniversaries, weddings, openings, family gifts, or religious spaces.
