Description

Kazimir Malevich, one of the founders of suprematism, presents us in "the crew in motion" (1914) a work in which the first vestiges of its transition converge towards geometric abstraction, artistically innovative, and predecessor to its eminent work "square Black "of 1915. This painting, although figurative, stands out for the deliberate use of geometric shapes and vibrant colors that show a complex relationship between the object and space.

"The crew in motion" captures three human figures that retain recognizable but highly stylized aspects. Malevich, in its exploration of shape and color, deconstructs the figures, reducing them to color blocks and geometric shapes that seem to dance in an indefinite space. These three characters, arranged frontally and staticly in their posture, emerge from a contrasting background in yellow, green and blue tones.

The color in this work is intense and evocative, with a predominant use of red, black and white in the clothes, which stand out notably against the most pale background. This contrast not only separates the figures from the background, but also provides dynamism and suggestion of movement. The figures, almost robotic in their appearance, indicate a kind of transition that could reflect the industrialization and the growing mechanization of society at the beginning of the twentieth century.

Through the disposition of shapes and colors, Malevich captures an intriguing duality between the static and movement; A paradox that is almost tangible in your work. Each figure seems segmented and applied, with bodies and limbs that do not follow the real proportions of the human body, thus generating a sense of dislocation and avant -garde.

It is interesting to note how the work suggests the influence of Cubism and futurism, contemporary movements that also explored fragmentation and dynamism. However, Malevich goes further, preparing the ground for its suprematism, where interest would lie not in the representation of the object, but in the supremacy of pure sensitivity.

"The in motion crew" is not only a sample of the high technical domain of Malevich but also an early sign of its search for the importance of traditional representation. Through a limited range of primary colors and geometric shapes, Kazimir Malevich challenges the viewer to contemplate the essence of their figures and question the relationship between art and reality.

When observing this piece, one can only appreciate the deep impact that Malevich had on the development of abstract art and how he prepared the way for future artistic movements. The work itself, although not as famous as its "black square", is crucial to understand the context and evolution of its artistic thinking, marking an essential turning point in the history of modern art.
