Frequently Asked Questions About Oil Painting Reproductions
KUADROS ©
Find answers to your questions before ordering a hand-painted oil painting from KUADROS: how each reproduction is created, how it differs from a print, how the preview works, what adjustments you can request, how we ship internationally, and the terms that apply to warranties, refunds, taxes, customs, and custom orders.
Before Buying an Oil Painting Reproduction
An oil reproduction is not a printed image: it is a new painting created by an artist, inspired by an existing work or an image provided by the customer.
Are KUADROS artworks digital prints or hand-painted paintings?
KUADROS artworks are hand-painted oil paintings on canvas created by professional artists. They are not digital prints, posters, or machine-generated copies. Each artwork is created with real brushstrokes, layers of oil paint, texture, and artistic review.
What Is an Oil Painting Reproduction?
It is a handcrafted interpretation of a painting, recreated in oil on canvas. The aim is to preserve the composition, colors, atmosphere, and visual presence of the work that inspires the order, rather than turning it into a flat print.
What Is the Difference Between an Oil Reproduction and a Canvas Print?
A canvas print reproduces an image using ink. An oil reproduction is painted by hand. That is why an oil painting has texture, variations in brushwork, depth of color, and physical presence. It is a decorative piece closer to the language of traditional painting.
Will the Reproduction Be Exactly the Same as the Original Artwork?
As this is a hand-painted artwork, natural variations in color, proportion, texture, brushwork, artistic interpretation, or photographic lighting may occur. These differences are part of the handmade process and are not necessarily considered defects. Before shipping, you can review the preview and request reasonable adjustments if you feel the painting needs corrections.
Why Buy a Hand-Painted Oil Painting Instead of a Print?
An oil painting brings real texture, visual presence, and a warmer feel than a print. It is well suited to living rooms, dining rooms, offices, libraries, religious spaces, hotels, professional studios, and special gifts.
Are Reproductions of Famous Paintings Original Works?
No. A reproduction is a new painting inspired by an existing work. It is not the original work by the historical artist and must not be presented as such. KUADROS offers hand-painted oil reproductions for decoration, private collections, and custom commissions.

Who Paints the Reproductions?
KUADROS works with professional artists specializing in painting reproductions and custom commissions. Each work is assigned according to the style, complexity, and characteristics of the requested painting.
When Does Production of My Painting Begin?
KUADROS may begin the production process shortly after your order is confirmed. This process may include assigning the work to an artist, preparing materials, planning the composition, managing references, and beginning the artistic work.
Once a painting has been assigned to an artist or has entered production, KUADROS has already incurred costs for time, materials, coordination, and artistic work.
How Long Does It Take for a Painting to Be Ready?
The timeframe depends on the size, complexity, level of detail, drying process, requested adjustments, and shipping destination. If you need the painting by a specific date, contact KUADROS before purchasing to confirm whether the timeframe is feasible.
Does KUADROS Have Quality Control?
Yes. Every artwork is reviewed before the preview is sent to the customer. This review checks the composition, color, proportion, texture, overall finish, and consistency with the reference image.
Can I Provide Special Instructions Before the Painting Begins?
Yes. If you would like to specify preferences for color, proportion, finish, composition, or particular details, it is best to communicate them before work begins. The clearer your initial instructions, the more precise the painting and review process will be.
Customization, Sizes, and Special Works
KUADROS paintings are made by hand after your order is received and may be created individually according to the selected artwork, chosen size, customer instructions, provided visual references, and adjustments requested during the review process.
Can I Order a Custom Painting?
Yes. You may request a custom painting based on your own image, a photograph, or a specific artwork, provided the commission is legally viable and you hold the necessary rights or permissions where applicable.
Are KUADROS Paintings Considered Made-to-Order Products?
Yes. KUADROS paintings are not pre-made products or standard inventory items. They are made-to-order artworks, produced individually after purchase and, in many cases, created according to the customer's individual choices or decisions.
Can I Order a Different Size Than the One Shown on the Product Page?
In many cases, yes. KUADROS can assess special sizes according to the proportions of the original artwork, the resolution of the reference image, and the requirements of the space where you wish to display the painting.
How Do I Choose the Right Size for My Wall?
For a feature wall, sofa, headboard, or dining room, a generously sized artwork often works best, with open space around it. For hallways, desks, or reading corners, a more modest size may be preferable. If you are deciding between two sizes, measure the available space and compare the artwork's proportions before purchasing.
Can I Change Colors, Details, or Proportions?
You may request special instructions before the order begins. Some changes are possible, while others may affect the composition or faithfulness to the artwork. For significant modifications, contact KUADROS before purchasing.
What Quality Should the Reference Image Be?
The better the image, the more information the artist will have to work with color, detail, and composition. For custom orders, send the sharpest image possible and, if you have several references, share them before confirming the commission.
Can I Commission Portraits, Family Paintings, or Personal Images?
Yes, custom commissions may include portraits, family images, pets, private landscapes, or other personal references. Feasibility will depend on the image quality, the required level of detail, and the specific order conditions.
Preview, Approval, and Adjustments
The preview is one of the most important parts of the process: it allows you to review the artwork before it is sent to your address.
Will I Receive a Photograph of the Painting Before Shipping?
Yes. Before shipping any painting, KUADROS sends the customer a high-resolution photograph of the finished artwork. This preview allows you to review the painting before shipping.
Is the Painting Shipped Automatically Once It Is Finished?
No. KUADROS does not ship the painting until the final preview has been approved. Approval of the preview means that the customer accepts the painting as shown in the photograph sent for final review.
Can I Request Adjustments If I Am Not Satisfied With the Preview?
Yes. If the preview does not meet your expectations, KUADROS may offer adjustments before shipping. These may include reasonable corrections to color, details, proportions, finish, or artistic interpretation, always within the natural limits of a hand-painted artwork.
What Types of Adjustments Can I Request?
Typical adjustments may include changes to color, contrast, small details, tonal balance, visible corrections compared with the reference, finish, or reasonable proportions. Changes that completely transform the composition may require a special assessment.
Can KUADROS Assign the Artwork to Another Artist?
When necessary, KUADROS may assess the possibility of assigning the artwork to another artist. Our goal is for the customer to receive a satisfactory painting before shipping, while respecting the handmade, manual, and customized nature of the product.
What Happens After I Approve the Preview?
Once the final preview is approved, we understand that the customer accepts the painting as shown in the approval photograph. After approval and shipping, cancellations, returns, or refunds due to a change of mind are not accepted for made-to-order, customized, or customer-specified paintings, unless applicable law provides otherwise.
International Shipping and Packaging
KUADROS sells internationally. Delivery times may vary depending on the destination country, painting size, order preparation, and shipping conditions.
Does KUADROS Ship Internationally?
Yes. KUADROS ships internationally through recognized carriers, subject to availability, destination, and order conditions. Final options are shown during checkout or in order communications.
How Is the Painting Shipped?
In general, paintings are shipped unframed, rolled, and protected in a secure tube. This helps reduce risks during international transport. If you require a special option, please ask before purchasing.
How Much Does Shipping Cost?
The final shipping cost is calculated at checkout based on weight, volume, and destination. Please review the final amount before confirming your order.
Will I Receive a Tracking Number?
When your order is dispatched, you will receive tracking information if available for the carrier and destination. Please check your email and the contact details provided during purchase.
What Happens If a Painting Arrives Damaged in Transit?
KUADROS carefully packages every painting for secure international shipping. If a painting arrives damaged, contact KUADROS as soon as possible and include clear photos of the damaged painting, outer packaging, inner packaging, order number, and a description of the issue.
We recommend reporting damage within 7 days of delivery so we can properly handle the matter with the shipping company. This timeframe does not limit any mandatory legal rights that may apply to the customer.
Import Taxes, Customs, and Potential Local Fees
KUADROS aims to make international purchases as clear as possible. Therefore, under normal circumstances, we prepay and cover the import taxes applicable to paintings.
Do I Have to Pay Import Taxes on My Painting?
Under normal circumstances, no. KUADROS prepays and covers the import taxes applicable to paintings, so customers do not have to pay those taxes upon receiving their order.
Can Local Customs Charge Additional Fees?
Although KUADROS covers import taxes on paintings, some customs authorities, carriers, or local entities may apply administrative charges, handling fees, processing, storage, inspection, or other local costs that are not part of the import tax prepaid by KUADROS.
These exceptional charges depend on local rules and practices and, where applicable, may be claimed directly by customs, the carrier, or the relevant local entity.
What Exactly Does KUADROS Cover Regarding Taxes?
KUADROS covers the import taxes applicable to shipped paintings. This does not include potential exceptional local charges for processing, customs handling, storage, inspection, data corrections, special procedures, or additional services charged by local authorities or carriers.
What Should I Do If I Receive a Notice From Customs or the Carrier?
If you receive a notice relating to customs, taxes, or local charges, contact KUADROS before making any payment whenever possible. Send us a copy of the notice, the tracking number, and your order number so we can review the case.
What Happens If a Painting Is Not Claimed From Customs?
Paintings that are unclaimed, abandoned at customs, or whose import is not completed due to a lack of response, documentation, or customer cooperation may be subject to the exclusions set out in KUADROS's current policies. If you receive a notice from customs or the carrier, contact us as soon as possible.
Warranty, Cancellations, Returns, and Refunds
This section summarizes the most common questions. Full terms can always be found on KUADROS's official warranty, refund, and terms pages.
What Warranty Does KUADROS Offer?
KUADROS offers a satisfaction guarantee before shipping. This means that, before shipping the painting, we will work with the customer to make reasonable adjustments when the artwork requires corrections.
If, after reasonable adjustments, KUADROS determines that the painting cannot be completed satisfactorily or in accordance with the order, we may offer an appropriate solution, which may include a new version, a change of artist, store credit, or a refund, depending on the circumstances.
Please review the Refund Policy before placing your order.
Can I Cancel My Order After Purchasing?
You may request cancellation before the painting has been assigned to an artist or before the production process has begun. If the order has not yet entered production, KUADROS may cancel the order and issue a full refund.
Once the painting has been assigned to an artist, prepared, started, painted, adjusted, or completed, the order is considered in production and cannot be automatically cancelled due to a change of mind, unless applicable law provides otherwise.
Can I Cancel a Painting After Production Has Begun?
Once the production process has begun, the order cannot be automatically cancelled due to a change of mind, as the artwork is being created individually for the customer and KUADROS has already incurred production costs, artistic time, materials, and coordination costs.
However, before shipping, KUADROS will continue to offer you the opportunity to review the preview and request reasonable adjustments.
What If I Do Not Like the Preview?
KUADROS will work with the customer to make reasonable adjustments before shipping. Where necessary, we may also assess a change of artist or another appropriate solution. The goal is to resolve corrections before the painting is shipped.
Can I Return a Painting After Receiving It?
Once the customer approves the final preview and the painting is shipped, cancellations, returns, or refunds due to a change of mind are not accepted for made-to-order, customized, or customer-specified paintings, unless applicable law provides otherwise.
This does not affect the customer's rights in the event of shipping damage, a defect, an order error, or legally applicable non-conformity.
Do I Have a Right of Withdrawal If I Am in the European Union?
Consumers in the European Union may have the right to withdraw from an online purchase within the applicable legal period. However, European legislation provides exceptions, including goods made to the consumer's specifications or clearly personalized goods.
Due to the nature of KUADROS paintings, many artworks may be excluded from the right of withdrawal once they have been commissioned, assigned to an artist, produced, adjusted, approved, or shipped.
Is There an Electronic Withdrawal Button for European Union Customers?
Yes. KUADROS provides a clearly visible electronic withdrawal feature in the store to facilitate the exercise of European Union consumer rights.
Automatic confirmation of a withdrawal request confirms that KUADROS has received the request. It does not mean that the order is automatically refundable if the painting is excluded from the right of withdrawal because it is a made-to-order, personalized, or customer-specified product.
What Conditions Must an Accepted Return Meet?
When a return is accepted, the product must be in the same condition in which it was received. It must not have been used, altered, hung, damaged, or handled beyond what is necessary to inspect it, and it must be returned in its original packaging or equally secure packaging.
It must also include the order number or reference and be sent according to the instructions provided by KUADROS. KUADROS may refuse a return if the product is returned damaged, altered, incomplete, or in a condition that prevents proper inspection.
Who Pays for Return Shipping?
When a return is accepted due to a change of mind or valid exercise of the right of withdrawal, the customer is responsible for the direct cost of return shipping, unless KUADROS expressly states otherwise or applicable law requires otherwise.
The customer must use a secure shipping method suitable for artworks, preferably with tracking. KUADROS is not responsible for products lost or damaged during return shipping arranged by the customer.
Does KUADROS Charge a Restocking Fee?
KUADROS does not charge a fixed restocking fee when European Union consumers validly exercise their legal right of withdrawal.
However, where permitted by law, KUADROS may deduct a reasonable amount from the refund if the product has suffered a loss of value caused by unnecessary, excessive, improper handling, or handling beyond what is necessary to inspect the artwork.
How Are Refunds Processed?
Where a refund is due, it will be issued using the same payment method used for the original purchase, unless another permitted method is expressly agreed. In the event of an accepted return, KUADROS may wait until it receives the returned product or valid proof of return before processing the refund.
Additional costs arising from special, expedited, or non-standard shipping methods will not be refunded, unless applicable law provides otherwise.
What If I Receive an Incorrect, Defective Painting, or There Is an Error With My Order?
If you receive an incorrect painting, an incorrect size, or a product that does not match the approved order, contact KUADROS with photos and your order number. KUADROS will review the case and, where appropriate, offer a solution at no additional cost.
This solution may include a correction, replacement, new painting, store credit, or refund, as appropriate.
Where Can I Read the Full Terms?
This page summarizes frequently asked questions but does not replace the official policies. Before purchasing, please review the warranty, refund policy, privacy policy, and terms of use published by KUADROS.
Caring for an Oil Painting
An oil painting should be handled with care to preserve its color, texture, and stability over time.
How Should I Care for My Oil Painting?
Place the artwork in a dry, stable location away from direct humidity, excessive heat, or intense sunlight. To remove dust, use a soft, dry cloth or a delicate feather duster. Avoid chemicals, water, or household cleaners.
Can I Frame the Painting After Receiving It?
Yes. Many paintings shipped rolled can be stretched onto a frame and framed locally. We recommend visiting a professional framer to stretch the canvas correctly and choose a frame proportionate to the style of the artwork.
Can the Painting Change Slightly Over Time?
Oil paint is a traditional material that may continue to stabilize over time. Proper care, moderate ventilation, and avoiding extreme conditions help preserve the artwork.
Where Is the Best Place to Display an Oil Painting?
Avoid placing the artwork above direct heat sources, in spaces with constant humidity, or under intense sunlight for many hours. A stable interior wall with controlled lighting and good ventilation is usually a better option.
Quick Guide to Choosing Your Oil Reproduction
Choosing a painting is not only about personal taste. It is also worth considering the space, lighting, size, proportion, and decorative style.
