The painting The Models, created by Georges Seurat in 1886, is a masterpiece of the art style known as Pointillism. This technique consists of the application of small brushstrokes of color that, when mixed in the viewer's retina, create a sensation of luminosity and depth.

The composition of the painting is very interesting, as it shows two models sitting in an art studio, surrounded by cloth and work tools. The use of perspective and depth of field creates a sense of three-dimensionality that makes the viewer feel like they are in the studio with the models.

Color is another prominent aspect of the work. Seurat used a palette of bright, saturated colors that contrast with shadows and dark tones. Additionally, the pointillism technique allows colors to blend in the eye of the beholder, creating a sense of movement and vibration in the painting.

The painting was purchased by the American art collector John Quinn in 1910 and later became part of the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

A little known aspect of the painting is that Seurat used his girlfriend, Madeleine Knobloch, as a model for one of the figures in the painting. This is known thanks to a letter he wrote to his friend Paul Signac in which he mentions that he was working on a painting with Madeleine as a model.
